Well, we all had a wonderful time in Bisbee, Arizona, thanks to Ozzie & Jo
Kaufmann who put on another great fly-in. The town of Bisbee and the
Airport Manager, Jim, rolled out the Red Carpet for us. They installed new
tie down chains, gave us a phenomenal discount on fuel and treated us all
royally! Bisbee is an amazingly friendly old west town with lots of charm.
Old Historic Bisbee had several restaurants and lots of shopping and saloons.
We had another wine and munchies party in Ozzie & Jo's suite on Friday evening
with wine from Tuscon. After the party, we went to dinner at the Bisbee
Bar & Grill. The weather was forecast to be questionable with rain, but it
simply did not materialize, so we all had a great time.
New and Old VMG'ers showed up for the fun. Henry Punt came all the way
from Long Beach, CA and Walter Bell came from the Front Range in Denver, CO.
Our Mooneys sure are travelling machines.
First timers met up with repeat VMG members. It is always so much fun to
see everyone talking and sharing their Mooney tales on the ramp.
Lunch was at the San Jose Lodge with a Mexican Buffet that was simply AWESOME!!!
There was a little of everything for everyone.
After lunch, several of us went to Tombstone, which is a short 30 minute drive.
Ozzie set us up to shoot old time rifles, 6 shooters, including a Colt 45, and
Shotguns with black powder. We even had a contest which Ozzie won hands
down. Don't mess with the Big Guy! Linda Corman won accuracy with 5
rounds placed into the diameter of a quarter.
See you at the next fly-in!
