Back to Vintage Mooney Group Home Page Chino, California
August 18, 2007

Hosted by Phil Dubois

The turnout to Chino was great.  Twenty (20) Mooneys showed up!

We knew the Chino fly-in was well-planned, when SOCAL Approach handed us off to Chino Tower about 10 miles out.  Chino tower cleared us to land, and then told us to follow the Vintage Mooney Valet Parking cart to our VMG tie-downs.  Phil DuBois did a fantastic job of planning his first VMG Fly-In.  Everything went off without a hitch.  Thanks also to John Frymeier, the airport manager and Mike Young who gave us all a demo of the latest Garmin toys.  Also special thanks to Devin, Phil's grandson, and friends Tim and Jarred for all their hardwork in the hot Chino sun.  Only they could have braved the mid-day sun.

The shortest flight was from Corona (no time to put your gear up) and the longest flight was from Redding California.  It was a hot day, but Phil had provided an air-conditioned eating room next to our tie-downs which was great.

After lunch we reviewed our upcoming Fly-Ins, answered questions, and made our VMG Recognition Awards.  This time we recognized John Frymeier, the Chino airport manager for his great support.  And then John Chandler for helping to found the Vintage Mooney Group which brings the greatest airplanes and greatest people in the world together each month.  Finally we awarded the oldest Mooney Award to a 1958 Mooney.   It had not been flown in, so we took his word for it that it was a great plane and airworthy.

See everyone at our next fly-in to Gold Country on September 8!
