This was our first fly-in to the great northwestern corner of the continental
USA, Friday Harbor on the San Juan Islands of Washington state. What a
fantastic and beautiful location for a fly-in. If there was any doubt
about expanding our region from the southwest to the western USA, that doubt was
doused by this fly-in. Thirty three planes flew in for the fly-in and most
stayed for the weekend or longer.
Approach to Friday Harbor
Some of us wanted to land on these short fields
that we found on the way! Maybe a future fly-in!
We had more first time Vintage Mooney Group pilots and passengers fly-in than we
could remember. It seemed like everyone had a wonderful time. New
and old members were mixing all day long making new friends and catching up with
old friends.

We would all like to extend a warm Vintage Mooney Group Thank You
to Jeff Mirsepasy for proposing and hosting our fly-in and to James Crossley for
providing his warm hospitality, his hangar, his family, and food! We'll
just have to go back next year, if they'll have us. The staff at KFHR were
simply wonderful. They were actually excited to have us fly-in to Friday
Harbor. Obviously, they just don't know us.

There were a lot of new faces. It's pretty exciting!
Thank You James!
A huge hangar filled with lots of great people, good times, and airplane stuff
There was plenty of food, plenty of space, and plenty of wonderful people here.
Our newest member, Turbo, who brought Chris along
with him! You should see Turbo's new panel. Great
taste. He's trained Chris well.

On Sunday morning, several planes went island hopping to Lopez Island and Orcas
Island as well as flying
around the tens of islands within a few minutes by Mooney. The base leg to
Orcas Island is shown on the left with the lighthouse on Stewart Island (which
is the northwestern most corner of the continental USA.
All good things must come to an end.
