Mert and Ann Bean hit one out of the ballpark with this fly-in to Laughlin!
We had 20 Mooneys and almost 40 people show up. The weather was
superb, actually cool for the desert. On Friday evening, many people
showed up at The Cove in the Aquarius resort for drinks and cameraderie.
On Saturday morning, all showed up on the ramp for more Mooney tales and
meeting/greeting the Saturday arrivals.
The Beans had worked with Landmark Aviation to setup their hangar for food
and games. There were even prizes for the winners. Then everyone
was given raffle tickets and almost half of the people there won more
prizes. We went home with a framed picture of a Corsair, F4U head-on
in flight. Lunch was in the hangar overlooking the ramp. When we
thought the food was done, a huge cake welcoming all of us Mooneys was
brought in (pictured in the collage below). It tasted as good as it
looked.
Mert then had everyone introduce themselves which was fun since we had a lot
of newcomers. He provided a twist by having the co-pilots do the
introduction including name, home drome, distance flown, Mooney model, and
favorite aviation movie. Good times.
On Saturday night, folks either met again, this time in the Colorado Belle
or others took a river cruise on the Colorado River (pictured below).
Landmark Aviation was an amazing host. They provided a fuel discount,
lunch, and even a bag full of goodies including shirts, hats, coffee cups,
plastic airplane, and more. The manager and line guys were awesome to
us.
A Huge Mooney Thank You to Mert & Ann Bean!!!
See you at our
next fly-in!
