I like to be seen in flite so the "Hot Canary" is painted Yellow with Red stripes. I chose yellow 'cause I noticed that I could always spot yellow things further away. Here we are at Bridgeport, CT last Labor Day, 2004.

Our little bird is migratory, having flown to Cabo San Lucas, MX, Friday Harbor, WA, Lake o' the Woods, MN, Frenchville, ME, Eastport, ME, Key West, FL, Galveston, TX, and, of course, San Diego. We still have Brownsville to do to make it a full extreme corner contact itinerary. I'm hoping for Alaska, but not all around it.

The current paint went on in '92 at AvArt of Arizona after a complete strip & alodine treatment. I removed all the interior panels and trim to do some extensive repairs to them and apply foam insulation to the inner skin surfaces. Then I painted all the interior trim with a couple of coats of "HiTech" Krylon Red. It works for me.

In the meantime Billie, my wife, performed miracles with the upholstery in red velour tuck and roll, and a fully trimmed carpet set in matching red.

After arranging all the gyro instruments on a square, Lord Mount [original] shock cushioned center panel above the pilots yoke, I distributed the rest of the flight instruments and switches on each side. The engine instruments went to the right panel on the other side of the radio stack which is an old toggle switch enunciator panel, dual KX155s, and a Narco transponder driven by a remote ACK unit. I use a yoke mounted Apollo II Morrow [now Garmin] 900 GPS. I love taking it to the motel to program tomorrows flight legs.

I fly VFR only for my own comfort and I use Flight Following as much as possible. That helps me get in and out of unfamiliar terminal areas. It also keeps me and the other guys from getting in each others way. I usually program my GPS for the corners of restricted areas, which tends to make the ATC guys nervous But we get along once they find out that I know where I am.

I hope you like our little bird cause he sure likes hanging with all of you.
