The turnout to Tucson was great. A lot of new faces
showed up for the first time so we all got to meet lots of new Mooniacs.
There were quite a few local Mooniacs from the greater Tucson area that drove in
for the fly-in.
This was simply a well-planned and wonderfully executed fly-in by Ozzie & Jo
Kaufmann. Although the main events took place on Saturday, there were
activities on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Friday, we met and toured
the Boneyard, the world's largest collection of used aircraft. That
evening we ate at Lil Abner's which is an old stagecoach stop in Tucson with
great BBQ and Steaks. On Saturday, more Mooneys flew or drove in and we
had our usual fun lunch, this time at Morgan's. After lunch we jumped in a
van, provided by Ozzie and toured the Pima Air Museum. This museum has
more than 330 aircraft on display. We had dinner that evening, after
drinks, at Cattletown. Then on Sunday, we toured the Titan Missile Museum.
What a great and unique place.
So Ozzie & Jo broke all the rules by doing so much planning. So much for
keeping it simple! But everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank You Ozzie & Jo for bringing us all together in Tucson.
See you all at the next fly-in to Temple Bar, Arizona on November 10.
