Those who were able to attend the VMG Porterville fly-in had a fun time and delicious lunch. Over 30 airplanes and 60 people registered for the fly-in but poor weather limited the turn out to twelve big Mooneys and four Mites. The clouds made it difficult. Those from the north either flew under, flew over and descended through a break or flew IFR. Those from the south and east came in IFR because the clouds were solid against the mountains. The interest that was shown for Porterville will definitely put it on our calendar again.

As advertised the Mooney Mites were on display. Four Mites, each a different model, gave us a sense of our M20 history. The similarities between an M18 and M20 are striking. And, those little Mites sure do bring a smile. The proud Mite owners were on hand to show off their special Mooneys, answer questions and tell stories. They are a great bunch. If you can, fly-in to Porterville on May 13th - 15th for the Mite fly-in.

We originally planned to have our large group out on the patio. But with the cool weather and smaller turn out Michel put us indoors in the restaurant. Michel was very understanding and accommodating. He served up a delicious deep pit beef sandwich with a side dish and beverage. The service was outstanding! If you have not been to Michel's All-American Grill and Sprits, stop in, you'll be glad you did.

See you at the next fly-in.
